Eligibility is determined by HUD’s regulations at 24 CFR, part 5. Applicants must meet the following requirements to be eligible for occupancy and housing assistance.
•The family’s annual income must not exceed income limits of $19,400 for one person, $22,150 for two people. Exception can be requested to HUD for incomes not higher than $31,000 for one person, $35,400 for two people.
•Assistance in subsidized housing is restricted to U.S. Citizens or Nationals, and Noncitizens who have eligible immigration status as determined by HUD.
•Applicants must disclose social security number cards, birth certificate, and agree to have a background check done.
•All applicants must sign an Authorization for Release of information prior to receiving assistance and annually thereafter.
•The unit in which the family is applying must be the family’s only residence.
•Applicants must agree to pay the rent required by the program under which the applicant will receive assistance.
•All information reported by the family is subject to verification.
